Install Project Remaster

For many players, Project Remaster is now the only way to play BF2142. It gives this 2006 classic a modern makeover with sharper visuals, new weapons and much smarter bots, and it’s easy to install.

What is Project Remaster?

A huge community mod that overhauls BF2142’s visuals, weapons and AI while keeping the game you know. It’s made by the Project Remaster team. Join their Discord for news and support.

What’s in it?
  • Overhauled textures for soldiers, weapons, vehicles, terrain and maps
  • A sharper font, HUD, crosshairs, minimap and menus for modern widescreen displays
  • New weapons, including sniper rifles, launchers, machine guns and pistols
  • Up to 5 primary weapons per class, new sidearms and a Squad Leader gadget slot
  • New and updated animations, and realistic explosion effects
  • Underwater swimming, hold Z to dive
  • Smarter bots that fight over longer distances, capture objectives and use vehicles
  • Bot support on many more maps and layouts (see the list), plus limited Titan mode for 48-player singleplayer and co-op
  • New maps, including Backstab, Operation Imra, Battle for Frankfurt and Tunis Harbour Assault
  • Built-in ReShade, widescreen HUD fix and blood patch
  • A launcher with a manual and troubleshooting tools

Can I play it online?

Yes, the mod fully supports multiplayer over LAN, VLAN or the internet. Everyone needs the same version of the mod, and joining a vanilla server with it loaded gets you kicked.

There are no public v17 servers yet, but that’s perfect for hosting your own LAN party. Keep an eye on the Remaster Discord for official servers and events.

Before you start

  • Your game must be patched to v1.51.
  • Playing on OpenSpy through BF2142 Hub? Create a new soldier just for Remaster. Using your vanilla soldier can break the mod’s expanded kit customization and crash the game when you spawn.

Steps

  1. Download the mod from Downloads.

  2. Extract it into your game’s mods folder, usually
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\mods

    Updating from an older version? Delete the old mod’s folder first.

  3. Open mods\Project_Remaster_v17\Tools\Launcher, right-click Remaster_Launcher.exe and choose Send to → Desktop (create shortcut).
