The last step! Create your account and soldier, set up your video and audio, and you’re ready to play.

Launch the game from the Hub, create an account and a soldier, then set your resolution and turn anti-aliasing off.

Steps

Caution

Whenever Windows Firewall asks, allow the game on both private and public networks, otherwise you may run into connection problems.

1. Launch the game through BF2142 Hub. You can tweak the video and game settings in the Hub before hitting Play.

2. Expect a short black screen before the intro, that’s normal.¹

3. On the login screen, click CREATE NEW ACCOUNT, then ACCEPT TERMS. Each screen can take a few seconds to appear.²

4. Fill in the registration form and click CREATE.

   • Use a real email address if you can, as you’ll need it to reset your password.
   • Remember your ACCOUNT NAME and PASSWORD.
   • Your password is stored in plain text on the server, so use one you don’t use anywhere else.
   • The other details don’t really matter.

5. Click CREATE NEW SOLDIER, enter the name you want to use in-game, and confirm.

6. You’ll probably notice the resolution has changed, since your new profile starts with default settings.³ Go to OPTIONS → VIDEO and set the resolution and refresh rate. Only pick values your monitor supports, as the wrong ones are the most common cause of crashes.

7. Tune the rest of your video settings. We recommend maxing everything out except ANTI-ALIASING, which is safest OFF.⁴ The Tweak Guide explains every option.

8. Don’t forget your AUDIO settings. The Tweak Guide has great tips there too.

9. That’s it, Battlefield 2142 is up and running. See you on the battlefield!
